Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Every October, the world marks Cybersecurity Awareness Month. But for many people, it feels like a “tech thing” something only experts should care about.
I used to think the same.
Until I saw how a single careless click could cost someone their savings, their privacy, even their career.
That’s when it hit me: cybersecurity is not about computers, it’s about people.
This year’s theme is simple: “Secure Our World.”
And it really comes down to four small habits:
Here in East Africa, where mobile money and digital services are part of daily life, these steps matter even more.
If we want to enjoy the benefits of technology, we must also protect ourselves.
For me,
it’s reminding friends and family to stop reusing the same password everywhere.
Because awareness starts in our own circles.
Let’s make this month more than just awareness.
Let’s make it action.
